Polish Zapiekanka

Poland's most iconic street food — zapiekanka, a toasted open-faced half baguette topped with sautéed mushrooms, melted cheese and ketchup (or the more upmarket version with bechamel). Poland's answer to pizza. Every Polish city has a zapiekanka kiosk and they have been selling it since the communist era. Simple, cheap, delicious.
